Core name in core.properties is ignored

I started the example server using java -jar start.jar -Dsolr.solr.home=C:\solr\home. In C:\sor\home is a directory named core, in which there is a file named core.properties, with the following content:

name=test
config=config.xml
schema=schema.xml
dataDir=data

After starting Solr the name of the core is 'core' according to the Core Admin page, not 'test' as expected.
