Switch all InterOp calls to call public get methods in Java instead of referencing private fields

Currently, there is a mix of using calling get methods in Java through the InterOp layer and directly referencing Java private variables. To reduce chances of developer error, we should instead switch all InterOp calls to call on public get methods in Java.
