asyncLoggerRingBufferSize description does not explain how to set the value correctly

The documentation for asyncLoggerRingBufferSize found here, while good at explaining what you are at setting, does not explain how to set it correctly.

It also misses the part described in this stackoverflow post

So im still not sure what i have to put into my log4j2.component.properties. Do i have to write
log4j2.asyncLoggerRingBufferSize=512*1024
Or do i write
log4j2.asyncLoggerRingBufferSize=524288
Or do i put in 512 only, if i want 512 slots?
 
Would be nice if the documentation would be clarified, since i also didn't find anything else for this parameter on google.
 
Sidenote: Jira has 2.20.0 marked as unreleased, when it apparently has been released since February 2023.
