Nightly causing npm symbolic link loop issues

Reproducible test case: https://github.com/dpogue/cordova-eloop (running with npm 5.4.0)

Cordova prepare somehow decides to update the package.json to point a plugin at file:node_modules/cordova-plugin-<whatever>, leading to npm trying to install from a folder into the same folder and throwing ELOOP errors.
